Why has Cunina started this project?

An incredible amount of development organizations have started operating in Haiti since the earthquake in 2010. These development organizations are especially active around the capital Port-au-Prince and other city centers. However, there is hardly any aid provided in the inland. This is where Cunina operates, in the region of the small village Mombin Crochu, where literally thousands of children are waiting for quality education.

What has Cunina done in the past?

Collège de l’Espoir is literally a small school. There are too many students and too few classrooms, which means that these small classrooms are stacked with students. Especially the students from the sixth and seventh grade (secondary education has a duration of seven years in Haiti) are dealing with this issue. Therefore, Cunina has built two new classrooms with new school furniture.

What will Cunina do in the future?

Next year, we will renovate five extra classrooms to make sure that all the students of Collège de l’Espoir are able to have a quality education. Each grade will get their own complete classroom.

I would like to ask a question about Haiti

Why does Cunina operate in Haiti?

Most Haitian schools are in bad condition. Classrooms, which are mostly too small, are stacked with students. Different age groups have to share the same classroom and this results in noise pollution and inappropriate behavior. Most of the children do not have books, writing materials or a school bag. The only thing they have is a school uniform, which they often get from their brother(s) or sister(s).

Cunina operates in Port-au-Prince, Mombin Crochu and La Victoire.

Cunina projects in Haiti

Cunina operates in a lot of places in Haiti. After the earthquake in 2010, we started focusing more on projects in the inland. Here you can read more about the other projects that we have realized in Haiti.
