We heard about Cunina’s amazing work on Radio 2, a Belgian radio station, and became godparents.

We were impatiently waiting for news of our godchild, Richiel from the Philippines, after just a few letters! This we did not expect. We did not only financially support Richiel, but we also kept encouraging her to continue her education so she could have a nice future.

We felt like we were doing the right thing, so we decided to sponsor a second child, Lucia, in 1996 and even a third, Josie, in 1997. We met all three of our godchildren during an immersion trip. They all graduated as school teachers.

In 2001, we became godparents once again. This time we became the godparents of Janine. One of her teachers at the Saint Francis Academy of Balamban (Cebu) is Richiel, our first godchild! That is amazing, is it not?

Becoming a Cunina godparent is a long-term commitment. You play an important role in the life of your godchild and you see them become a young adult with opportunities.

Testimonies of godparents

Becoming a godparent is not something you do every day. Thankfully you are not on your own. Since the foundation of Cunina, over 13.000 children have been sponsored. Here you can read the experiences of different godparents and their opinion on child sponsorship.
