Cunina puts an emphasis on the personal aspect of their child sponsorships. You will be able to create a connection with your godchild. Therefore we encourage you to exchange letters with your godchild. It is the most personal way of corresponding.

Please take into account that the social environment of your godchild can be very different from ours. We will give you a few tips in order to avoid miscommunication.

Exchange of letters

You receive a letter from your godchild twice a year: during the school year and at the end of the school year with their school results included.

We always check the letters before we send them to a godchild or a godparent. We do this to protect you and your godchild. This way we can avoid godchildren writing begging letters and guarantee that your child sponsorship file is properly managed.

Send the letters for your godchild to Cunina (you can find the address below) at the end of February and at the end of August.

Becoming a Cunina godparent is a long-term commitment. You play an important role in the life of your godchild and you see them become a young adult with opportunities.

Visiting your godchild

Cunina godparents can only visit their godchild by participating in an immersion trip. It is not possible to visit your godchild on your own, not even at their home or their school. We want to guarantee the privacy and safety of the godchildren.

We always inform godparents that have godchildren in a certain country when it is possible to sign up for an immersion trip. During these immersion trips we visit projects of Cunina, give you the chance to meet your godchild, visit their school environment and immerse in the local culture. It is an intense experience. The maximum number of participants is fifteen. This way we can keep the trip as pleasant as possible.

Information on the country of your godchild

Cunina keeps you informed of news from the country of your godchild and the projects that we fund with your contributions. We do this by sending you the Cunina Courant and our newsletter and by posting on our Facebook Page and on this website.
