Alpine Valley school at the zoo
This is the second term of Alpine Valley school and many grades are learning about the wild and domestic animals and different type of birds in Science. To make this topic more interesting and effective, the school organized an educational trip to the zoo for the students from kindergarten to grade six.
The students were accompanied to the zoo by their Science teachers. The teachers had to explain the characteristic features of every animals they saw in the zoo. Subsequently grade three, four, five and six students were given questionnaire sheet related to the trip and to their course to attend. As they went around seeing different animals, they were made to discuss on what they saw and were told to ask questions that confused them. The junior students were made aware of the noise, colours and names of different animals and birds they learned about in the school. Apparently the students were full of excitement and were anxious to know about every details of the animals and birds during the trip. At the end of the trip the senior students completed the questionnaire sheet and submitted to the respective teachers. Some snacks and drinks were also provided to them on the trip. The feed back of the trip from the students as well as the teachers were very good. The school often organizes such trips related to different subjects they learn in school and believes that it is the best way of learning.
