To what end is the administrative contribution of 5 euro a month used?
For almost 13 years, Cunina's functioning was completely dependent on the goodwill of volunteers. Till today, the foster care contribution of 25 euro a month is used entirely for the education of Cunina foster children and projects that support education in our partner countries (see Nepal). The exponential growth of our organisation brought in 2005 about the need to employ a couple of permanent staff members. This decision was inspired by our will to guarantee forthright follow-through of the foster care dossiers and the further expansion of the professional functioning of our organisation. Concerning the individual foster care, Cunina adopts a personal approach. This requires intensive follow-up and verification. The increase of the contribution with 5 euro is dictated by these higher working costs and is used to finance the wages of our employees. Our employees in Belgium earn the minimum wage for the social sector which is defined by the 'paritair comittee 319'. Nevertheless, this administrative contribution doesn't suffice to finance all wages and other functioning costs.
To keep in touch with the partnercountries and godchildren and the annual evaluation of our patronage projects all add to the expenses of our organisation. Most of these costs are paid by donations of companies who specifically want to finance our functioning costs. Cunina keeps loyal to the principle to give the patronage contribution entirely to the godchildren in our partnercountries. Cunina is and always will be an organisation of volunteers. Cunina wouldn't have been able to realize all its accomplishments without the help of many volunteers, on the one hand the people who organized local committees and on the other hand the ones who are helping behind the scenes with administrative tasks. Our founder-chairman is a full-time volunteer as well.
