How long will a CUNINA foster care last?
CUNINA foster parenting usually starts at the age of 6, or the first grade of elementary school. Financing a child of a younger age is possible if a pre-school or kindergarten exists which offers a kind of basic education. This doens't mean that we exclude children who start their education at a later time due to specific circumstances or children that are going to school. We assume that a child graduates at the age of 18 and can live independently. Recently, more and more CUNINA foster children show their ambition to start higher studies and some even want to enroll in universitary studies. We can only welcome this. Higher education is expensive however. It's the foster parents's own choice to extend their foster care for the length of the higher studies. If the foster parents aren't able or willing to finance the higher studies, CUNINA will search for a solution to support the studies of the foster child.
