How much does CUNINA foster care cost?

A CUNINA foster parent pays 30 euro per month = 25 euro foster care contribution + 5 euro to cover administration costs. CUNINA functioned exclusively with the support of volunteers in the first 13 years of its existence. To keep managing the dossiers in an efficient and professional way, two paid employees were enrolled in January 2005. This caused an increase in the monthly foster care contribution with 5 euro for administration costs. This 5 euro per dossier partially finances the operational costs in Belgium. The foster child keeps receiving 25 euro.
* Living expenses and hence costs for education are relatively high in our partner countries Haiti, Brazil, the Philippines and South Africa. Especially in Haiti the living expenses keep increasing steadily and the 25 euro contribution is no longer adequate to cover school costs. Without the foster care contributions however, the children wouldn't be able to get any education at all.
By contrast, in Nepal we chose another approach because the wages are so extremely low and the costs for education are significantly lower than in our other partner countries. Since we don't want to disrupt the social situation and because of half of the foster care contribution suffices, 12,5 euro is used to cover the expenses for the studies of the foster child. The other 12,5 euro is invested in general development projects. The foster parents of the Nepalese fister children are informed about this and do agree with this state of affairs

Every gift from at least 30 euro is fiscally deductible. As a Cunina foster parent, you receive an annual fiscal certificate in the month of March, which needs to be attached to the taxdeclaration. This means you can recuperate at least half of your contributions, dependent on the size of your income.
