Junior Georges from Port-au-Prince (Haiti - October 2006)

My name is Junior GEORGES and I am 20 years old. I come from Mombin Crochu, in the North East part of Haiti. I study Diplomacy at the university, notably the Académie Nationale Diplomatique et Consulaire (ANDC). This study branch inspires me and was the best choice for me. I am the second oldest at home and the only boy in our family. I have an older sister. My mother’s name is Mélanie GEORGES and she works in the MAMOSA Residence, together with Father Jan. She’s in charge of the kitchen.
My studies come first. I like to go to classes. Besides that, I like doing some sports. I play volleyball and I also like football very much. I also like to read and a lot of it too. I often listen to the news on the radio, I like to watch television and I like to spend time with my friends.
Peace and serenity, morals and sense of responsibility, honesty and moderation are important to me. I dislike violence, injustice, violations of the human rights, theft and abuse of power. I organise my life in such a way that I can spend time on different activities: studying, sports and so on… Usually I go to school from Monday to Friday. To get there on time, I get up between 6:30 and 7 AM after which I wash myself and get dressed. My breakfast usually consists of either spaghetti, either bread, eggs, bananas, cheese,… and I drink fruit juice or milk with it. Afterwards, I leave for school. From where I live, it’s only 200 meters to the bus stop where I take the bus and from the bus stop where I get off to the school is another 300-meter walk. To me that is some healthy physical exercise. I come home from school between 2:30 and 3 PM. After lunch I study, I read the newspaper, I watch TV or listen to the radio. As far as my future is concerned, my dream is to obtain an academic degree or a PhD in diplomacy. One day I would like, in a professional and effective manner, to take my responsibility within the framework of a diplomacy mission for Haiti to a foreign country. It is my dream to serve my country in the future, not only to share my knowledge and experience with my fellow countrymen but more and foremost to help my country develop further. In the future I would also like to start a family and have children.”
