Projects: Nepal

In Nepal, 60% of the population is illiterate, despite the fact that primary education is free and mandatory for all children between 6 and 11 years old.  In reality, only half of Nepalese children go to school.

State schools tend to be of low quality, while private schools are too expensive for most children. This is one of the reasons why children drop out of school prematurely.
