Project: Cunina builds two new schools

Cunina is building two new schools in the Central Plateau of Haiti, in the villages Mombin Crochu and La Victoire.

In some dilapidated classrooms, currently two to three classes are crammed together in one room. Sometimes separated by only a blackboard, sometimes just with the face turned in opposite directions.

There are great holes in the blackboards, only a few strips of wood is all that lasts of the school desks. One of the principals tells us that a wall already came down when one of the teachers was busy teaching. When the weather is dry, children are in the dust; when it rains, they are in the mud.

Next to the two schools are already two piles of stones. Parents have brought them, and they will form the foundation of the two new schools Cunina will be building. The whole community pulls its weight.

Every year Cunina will build two new classrooms until there are two complete schools.
